Please read through all of our most asked questions.  If you have a question that is not answered here, please feel free to reach out to us!

Do your units meet the current standards?

We warrant that all our equipment meets the requirements of CSA Z614-14, which is the current standard for Playgrounds in Canada. We are both Certified Playground Inspectors so are aware of the requirements.

Do you recommend peastone for playgrounds?

We have done only one peastone playground in the last 5 years. The problems with peastone are it creates hardpan every few years and then the surface must be roto tilled, children like to pick it up and throw at windows, garage doors as it sounds good, if you live in an apartment building it gets tracked in and damages the elevator door tracks plus your floors. Peastone on a paved path many times turns into marbles and causes tripping.

What kind of playground should we buy for our condominium(co-op)?

Condominiums have a wide age grouping of children so a unit rated for ages 18 months to 12 years is generally best or two units one for ages 18 months to 5 years and one for ages 5 to 12 years. If you buy one rated for 5 to 12 years then the smaller younger children will not have a proper play space which can cause problems within the group and could cause unsafe conditions. One other factor to consider is how does the playground affect the looks of your area, is it an asset, does it improve the overall appearance, is it a plus factor when someone is looking at joining our group.

What is the best surface for playgrounds?

Basically there are only two real good surfaces, wood fibre which gives you the softest surface for children falling but requires some maintenance and has the lower price. The other one is rubber which works well, requires virtually no maintenance but is more expensive, and also has the advantage of looking aesthetically pleasing. There is one supplier of special sand that works very well but we do not recommend regular sand due to animals using it for a toilet.

Does our playground need inspection?

If you check with your insurance carrier I am sure they will advise you that a yearly inspection and compliance with CSA Z614 is required. Also from a point of view of taking care of the children, a yearly inspections gives you peace of mind knowing that there are no safety problems and the unit is in good condition.

We are looking to buy a playground for our Co-op, (condominium), how much is a good price?

A decent playground with wood fibre safety surface suitable for say 30 to 80 units would run you around $22,000 to say upper end $38,000. If you wanted rubber surface you could add $5000 to that price. Having said that some co-ops have spent considerably more.  Of course you could spend much more but i think adding other amenities for children like basket ball, tether ball etc would work well and involve more children. One factor to consider is looks, do you want the playground to be an asset for your groups value and would the playground add to the value or attractiveness of your area. This can be an important consideration.

Do you make site visits?

We do not like to sell a play structure we will install without first a site visit to make sure the area is right for the installation. Playgrounds are a long term investment and we want to make sure it is done right for you.

Is there a charge for quotes?

There is no charge for quoting or visiting your site or meeting with you to determine the best options to suit your needs. We want our customers to be with us for a long time and we like to make sure they get want they want and what is right for them.

How long does it take to get a playground?

Once a design has been made and the order has  been confirmed, it is usually 6 weeks to installation date which in most cases takes a week.  Sometimes the decision process can take a long time, more than 6 weeks depending upon the parties involved, the design and layout usually takes us a week for each rendition made. If you are buying one of our existing models we usually can have a quote to you within a day.
